This was a very widely circulated Photochrom postcard. The street is still the typical hustle and bustle downtown shopping street; this view faces north and the Royal Palace is about one block behind where the photographer is located.  There is still no motorized traffic, so that fits the 1890-1900 time frame, but now you have the existence of horse-drawn trams but before actual tracks were laid. (Modern view here.)
